‘You Are Going To Die’

“You are going to die”

”I’m not afraid to die, I just don’t want to be there when it happens”

-Woody Allen

This might seem obvious and maybe slightly unnecessary but most of us are walking around acting as if we will live forever.

Most people hear this statement and get scared because it wakes them up to the uncertain reality that they are not immortal.

This is called mortality motivation, when I lost an amazing friend I realized i might be next, I realized i want to to make a difference before my time was up.

Death is an everyday truth we have been hiding from, often with the help of addictions to material items, drugs, tv shows, sex, food, fantasies, even work and exercise and of course our devices like iPhones.

The importance of reminding ourselves daily that we are not here forever not to create a culture of fear and anxiety but the opposite.

Anxiety will only be caused by this thought if we are not currently living our true purpose but living a life of egotistic selfishness, as that is one that avoids the reality of impermanence.

Once we align with our true inner purpose and our living based on values and end goals rather than means goals we will find that the reality of our slowly approaching death cannot scare us any more.

In fact, you will soon find that once you start to let go of the addiction to distractions that have a hold over you, you are then free to create a wonderful life full of passion, compassion and purpose.

So get out there now and live like you are going to Die!

”Many people die at twenty-five and aren’t buried until they are seventy-five”

– Benjamin Franklin
